{"id":848,"date":"2014-02-12T04:41:58","date_gmt":"2014-02-12T04:41:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imagemme.com\/newsite\/?p=848"},"modified":"2016-11-16T03:24:09","modified_gmt":"2016-11-16T03:24:09","slug":"pin-the-tail-on-the-target-joy-cho-of-pinterest-fame-teams-up-with-a-big-name","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/imagemme.com\/newsite\/pin-the-tail-on-the-target-joy-cho-of-pinterest-fame-teams-up-with-a-big-name\/","title":{"rendered":"Pin the Tail on the Target \u2013 Joy Cho of Pinterest Fame Teams up with a Big Name"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Target announced a strategic partnership yesterday, not with a fellow company \u2013 but with select Pinterest influencers.\u00a0 The move is just one in a recent slew of attempts by established market presences to connect directly with potential consumers via innovative social media platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Pinterest, which launched in early 2010, has seen exponential growth each of the past four years, and while many experts believe Twitter is reaching its plateau \u2013 and scoff at Facebook as an efficient marketing tool \u2013 the platform, which allows users to share and organize high-res images taken from the web or generated originally, isn\u2019t showing any signs of slowing down.\u00a0 This could be a healthy dose of beginner\u2019s luck, but it\u2019s more likely Pinterest has struck genuine gold by leveling the playing field \u2013 not only between low and high-profile users, but between those users and established brands as well.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-854\" src=\"https:\/\/imagemme.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/joy-cho-party1.jpg\" alt=\"joy-cho-party1\" width=\"950\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/imagemme.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/joy-cho-party1.jpg 950w, https:\/\/imagemme.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/joy-cho-party1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/imagemme.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/joy-cho-party1-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 950px) 100vw, 950px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Take Joy Cho, for instance.\u00a0 A designer and social media influencer, Cho has cultivated quite the following\u2013 more than 13 million Pinterest users.\u00a0 It\u2019s no wonder she was on Target\u2019s radar for their Pinterest campaign, nor is it a surprise they chose her to launch it.\u00a0 Cho\u2019s line in the \u2018Party with Pinners\u2019 stunt will feature modestly-priced garden-party ware \u2013 lanterns, apparel, cups, and more, all of which will appear in-store branded with a \u201cPinterest\u201d logo for easy identification.\u00a0 This move, which Target also uses outside the campaign to draw eyes toward the most popular items on the platform, could be the first of its kind, and is a remarkably simple but innovative implementation of mutually beneficial cross-branding.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-855\" src=\"https:\/\/imagemme.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Joy-Cho1.jpg\" alt=\"joy-cho1\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/imagemme.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Joy-Cho1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/imagemme.com\/newsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Joy-Cho1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Credit: theglitterguide.com<\/p>\n<p>On the one hand, Target gains immediate access to all of Cho\u2019s followers as potential customers, while also gleaning the benefits of her grassroots style expertise.\u00a0 On the other hand, Cho gets a promotion that will surely see a boost in her own sales as well.\u00a0 So the question is \u2013 who\u2019s getting the better end of the bargain?\u00a0 Our bet, believe it or not, is on Target.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign, to launch soon, will feature two other designers \u2013 Kate Arends of Wit &amp;
