\u201cLogo Fatigue\u201d has hit the Chinese luxury market, according to recent reports, which has some brands on edge, and rightly so: the top two percent of the Chinese population accounts for a third of the world\u2019s luxury sales.\u00a0 As China goes, so goes the world.<\/p>\n

Case in point: just last March, Louis Vuitton shocked attendees of their Paris show \u2013 not with pyrotechnics, but with a subtle absence.\u00a0 The brand\u2019s trademark logo and \u201cDamier\u201d canvas weren\u2019t featured anywhere on the catwalk.\u00a0 We don\u2019t believe it\u2019s entirely coincidental that the brand generates 28% of its sales in China.<\/p>\n

LV, which had reported slow growth revenue the previous two quarters, was essentially heralding a new aesthetic \u2013 one that appeals to a more discerning, savvy customer, who\u2019s given up equating a high-price point with luxury.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s in a name?\u00a0 Or a logo, for that matter?\u00a0 Status, of course, or that\u2019s been the case until recently.\u00a0 If other big-name brands go the route of LV and distance themselves from increasingly antiquated trends \u2013 or reinvent their image on the whole \u2013 what will the market begin to look <\/i>like?\u00a0 It\u2019s fun to imagine.<\/p>\n
