The brand Cquell started in 2016 with the mission of finding a way to battle dry itchy skin. The Cquell team ultimately developed a formula that used cannabis sativa to relieve the discomfort of eczema and dry skin. As innovative as the brands formulation was, their team needed help bringing their brand together on the visual front. How could we bring Cannabis infused skincare to market without alienating consumers less familiar with its benefits.

Eczema Relief

When the Cquell team approached Imagemme, they already had packaging and identity concepts but the logo lacked readability and the packaging didn’t provide a proper visual system for future growth. We redid their branding from the ground up and provided them with a packaging system that would work as they expanded into more products and categories.

Making it Read

Our first step was to develop a strong wordmark. “CQuell” being a made up word needed clarity when being read by the eyes of consumers who had never heard the word before or seen it written. Ultimately we chose to have the logo broken up into two colors so that the “C” was read individually without having to create unwanted space between the letterforms. Ultimately we wanted the look and feel of the word mark to be sophisticated but still have mass appeal.

Expanding The Product Line

Throughout the process we worked hand in hand with the team at Cquell to flesh out the brand assets, and launch website while simultaneously sourcing and troubleshooting the primary and secondary packaging. In the end we landed on a design we a proud of and hope opens people up to the benefits Cannabis can have in skincare.
