A New Brand

A startup in the green beauty space, Clove + Hallow approached us to build a dynamic brand from the ground up — one that would foreground it’s bold use of color, for women of all skin tones. Working closely with the founder — a former film makeup artist — we laid the foundation for a scalable brand architecture and explored a variety of unique identity systems.

Bold Packaging
Design

After fruitful ideation, we settled on a neutral series of striking geometric assets that highlighted and accented the brand’s vibrant, diverse color palette of pastel and earth-toned product. Secondary packaging would feature multiple crops of a black and white bar motif, while primary would adhere to a color-coded architecture denoting product line.

Experience &
Merchandising

Clove + Hallow also retained us to develop both trade show and retail experiences for the startup. Building a scalable booth that could be tailored on an event-by-event basis, we outfitted the brand with a full suite of collateral and giveaways for an eye-catching launch. We also developed a series of modular acrylic product displays for choice retail activation kits.

The Future
of Makeup

Wildly popular upon release in 2017, Clove + Hallow received the Women’s Health Beauty Award, Essence Magazine’s Best in Black Beauty Award, and was nominated for a variety of Best in Show Awards at the Indie Beauty Expo. Clove + Hallow was also chosen as one of Oprah’s favorite things.
