Eau Thermale Avène, a skincare brand built around the healing properties of a nutrient rich spring in Avène, France, had a story to tell. Aidan, a nine year old from a small town in Texas, suffered from severe atopic dermatitis. Typical steroid treatments, prescriptions, and homeopathic remedies did nothing to calm painful outbreaks that debilitated him since he was an infant. That changed when he tried Avène.

Translating Aidan’s Experience

We took the full arc of Aidan’s experience and developed a graphic and structural system that told his story simply and powerfully, while weaving in background on the Avène brand itself. A blend of imagery taken from Avène’s scenic spa and assets crafted from Aidan’s own drawings made for a balanced, layered experience.

A Unique Mix of Medias

Avène produced a heartfelt short film highlighting Aidan’s journey to their thermal spa. We embedded an auto-play screen in the box itself, adding another layer to the reveal and deepening the emotional impact of the narrative.

Spreading Awareness

Coordinated with an online campaign, Aidan’s activation kit was sent to hundreds of influencers during Eczema Awareness month. Each kit bundled several samples of Avène product as well, for users to test in person.
